I still remember the day I got my first period. My mother's expression was a mix of disappointment and pity when she uttered, "Oh, it's started." She knew exactly what lay ahead because she had experienced it herself. For most of my adult life, I dreaded those days. It was a hell I had to go through every month, for the sin of being a woman.
In fact, menstruation was the only reason I used to pray to God not to bless me with a girl child. I didn't want an innocent soul to endure what I had gone through for so many years. However, I'm grateful that God didn't listen to me and blessed me with a beautiful daughter. And I'm confident that when she experiences her first period, my reaction will be quite different from my mother's. Because over a period, I have learnt how to deal with Premenstrual Syndromes (PMS) effectively.
I stumbled upon these teachings by accident, but when I witnessed their impact, I was amazed. I never imagined there was a way to escape this unending cycle of suffering. From 14 to 40, it took me 26 years to break this cycle and Me Period is my humble way to share my learnings and story with my fellow women. Like me you can also re-write your story where suffering is not your destiny and period is not the ‘full stop’ to life.
